Volunteer of the Month: Rachel Williamson

Rachel Williamson: Volunteer for Launch and Belmont College Student. Why does she volunteer as a fifth and sixth grade girls’ small group leader and a registration table worker?

I feel like God has given me a passion not only for understanding Him better, but helping others to come to know Him more. He has gifted me with the ability to communicate with multiple age groups, but I find that I enjoy working with youth/middle school the most.  It gives me an incredible sense of fulfillment to work with these girls each week.” She writes.

Rachel likes cooking for big crowds and socializing—definite signs of a party girl! (Make sure to invite me to the next party!)

She also enjoys reading and even more so writing.

She became a volunteer for Launch when Brian Drinkwine approached her with a volunteer job opening—a job Rachel could definitely do very well (as you can see), with her socializing skills and search for a new church home.

“Rachel was one of our original Launch volunteers. I challenged her to lead a small group before she ever went to BCC. While certainly not a surprise, Rachel has been a tremendous servant in this ministry! Her time, energy, and genuine care shows every Sunday as she comes to spend time with our students.” Brian Drinkwine— Associate Director of Student Ministries—quotes.

And her favorite part of volunteering? “Getting to know my girls. It's a bit challenging being a college student on top of a volunteer, but I try my best. I'm hoping that I will get to know them even more after I graduate college and start to have a little more free time.” “Rachel is one of the most dedicated small group leaders I have seen. She is committed to her small group's spiritual growth. Each student in her small group is blessed to have Rachel as their spiritual mentor. She is a gift to this ministry.” Brian Drinkwine wrote.

When asked about her favorite fun story or moments, Rachel wrote:

“The best moment by far was when we (the small group) collected pop cans and brought them in. I have this huge orange bag that I typically use to carry all my research books in and they filled it up. I remember going to the other leaders and just saying over and over, “Look at what my girls did!” I was so proud of them.”

“Rachel loves our students, but more importantly, she loves Jesus. And it shows.” So, keep up the good work, Rachel!
