How long have you been volunteering in Launch?
"I don't really remember exactly how long I've been doing the Launch thing now, I want to say since June '07."
What do you do during Launch?
"During Launch I get to worship our amazing God and hang out with some really great middle schoolers. I get to lead a small group full of terrific guys and I really enjoy that, even when they don't listen or pay attention."
Why do you like volunteering? What is your favorite part?
"I like volunteering because it feels good and it is the right thing to do; it's a way to give back something and really attempt to serve the Lord and make a difference in someone's life. I really do it because I simply enjoy it, it's a lot of fun, and can it get any better than having a blast while trying to love and serve others."
How did you become a volunteer leader in Launch?
"I got involved in Launch through Brian Drinkwine. Brian and I went to school together at UTC where we had classes together and were both involved in campus ministry organizations. We became and have remained close friends, and he told me he had a job at BCC and talked about what a unique and great church it was and asked me to come visit. I did, and I loved it so I've been doing it since, and I knew that if I was coming to church there then I'd have to be doing Launch or Brian would kill me-it works out though because I love it."
Chris is from Gallatin, TN, and went to Goodpasture High School, then UTC where he graduated with a degree in History (pre-law). He works "for [his] uncle in the lighting business; [they] are manufacturer's reps, and [Chris] is in sales."
Chris enjoys food (who doesn't?), music, sports, and politics. Of course, he got involved through Brian. And if you don't show up, Chris, we'll cover for you (Brian, if you're reading this, I didn't actually write that).
He also wanted to add:
"I'm blessed to have a great girlfriend and the best friends and family on the planet and I love them all."
So if you see Chris is Launch, be sure to give him a high five! Nice job, Chris!
