Trey Adkisson is currently in his second year as an elder at BCC.

With a 25-year career in residential construction and purchasing, Trey has volunteered on BCC Habitat for Humanity projects for the past three years. He has also participated in BCC Leadership training, volunteered on the Saturday night greeter team, served as an E-team Leader, participated in Men's Fraternity, was a member of the BCC Construction Oversight Team and offered his culinary skills as lead "grill-master" for the Crazy Campaign.

Outside of his BCC service, Trey has also been involved with the St. Jude's Dream Home project to benefit kids of St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital for the past two years.

Trey accepted Christ at the age of 13 and grew up in Methodist and Presbyterian churches. Trey and his wife of 21 years, Brenda, are both native Nashvillians and have called BCC home for the past 13 years.

"The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not be in want. He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he restores my soul. He guides me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; rod and your staff, comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever." - Psa. 23

Mike Dillon is one of those multi-tasking volunteers at BCC. He serves on the backstage and lighting team, has served as a greeter, and worked on the set-up team when BCC was meeting at Bellevue Middle School. He is currently a member of the Conexus Walk in the Park group and has been in other small groups. He also serves on the board of Preston Taylor Ministries and is co-chair of its building committee.

A native Nashvillian, he was raised in the Catholic Church, while his wife Patt grew up in the Presbyterian Church. Mike has known Jesus since his earliest memories. He strives to get closer to him and is constantly amazed and grateful for God's gift of grace. They attended many mostly traditional churches looking for a place to call home, until an ad at the Bellevue Cinema and a recommendation from a friend brought them to BCC in August 1996. They left the 8:30 a.m. service energized and somewhat unsure of what they had just experienced. They came back the next weekend, and after realizing they had not looked at their watches for the first time while attending a church, they decided to call BCC home.

Mike feels closest to God when experiencing the wonders of nature. He makes his living in the construction business.

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him and he will make your paths straight." (Prov. 3: 5-6)

Mark Freeman is a native of Franklin, Tennessee. He grew up attending First United Methodist Church but did not begin his personal relationship with Jesus Christ until after he came to BCC in 1996. Mark and his wife Stacia have six children and over the years, each has volunteered in Kids Place. Mark has participated in Men's Fraternity and small groups.

Mark had to overcome hardship at the early age of 13. He became paralyzed from the waist down after being hit by a truck on his way home from school. He now walks with a cane and sometimes two if he has to chase his kids around. Although he spent many nights questioning God's plan for him, he has come to understand that God had a future and a purpose for his life.

Now, he considers himself blessed beyond belief and thanks Jesus Christ for coming "into the world to save sinners-of whom I am the worst. But for that very reason I was shown mercy so that in me, the worst of sinners, Christ Jesus might display his unlimited patience as an example for those who would believe on him and receive eternal life." (1Tim. 15-16)

Mark attended college at Vanderbilt University and law school at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. Mark has his own law practice and focuses on a wide variety of areas.

"In him we were also chosen, having been predestined according to the plan of him who works out everything in conformity with the purpose of his will, in order that we, who were the first hope in Christ, might be for the praise of his glory." (Eph. 1:11-12)

A former member of Willow Creek Community Church in Chicago, Mike Hueneke and his family found BCC through the Willow Creek Association when they moved to Nashville in 1998. Since then, BCC has been a spiritual home for Mike, his wife Martha and their children Bobby, 18, and Margaret, 14.

Mike accepted Christ at the age of 17 and said his spiritual background "ran the gamut" from Catholic to Lutheran, Methodist, Baptist and Presbyterian, until he found a meaningful spiritual experience at Willow Creek. "God has protected me continually and I have made my spiritual walk a priority for the last eight years," he says.

A successful plastic surgeon in Nashville, Mike has been a member of the BCC Elders since 2003. The Huenekes are actively involved in the Marriage Mentoring program and Mike's volunteer service has included working at the Info Table and serving as a Greeter.

"And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose." - Rom. 8:28

It was a BCC mailer talking about a "different way to do church" that drew Alex Poston and his family to visit the church nearly 13 years ago. Alex quickly was called on to put his percussion and vibraphone skills to work on behalf of the music team, and the Postons officially joined BCC a couple of years later.

Despite growing up in the Methodist church, it wasn't until he came to BCC that Alex met Christ on a personal level. "Accepting Jesus as my Savior was a leap of faith that I was only able to make once I could see it lived out in the people at this church and my family," he recalls.

These days, Alex is heavily involved not only as an elder and musician, but as part of the Habitat for Humanity team. Wife Kathy has been a leader/teacher in Kids Place and daughter Jordyn, 14, also serves as a Kids Place volunteer.

When he's not serving at BCC, Alex is a mover and shaker in the world of healthcare technology; he is president and CEO of VocalEZ, LLC, a company that provides ASP voice recognition dictation workflow software for healthcare providers.

"I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me." - Phil. 4:13

Tony Rich met Christ during a BCC service in the auditorium at Bellevue Middle School. He was 32 years old and says he was at "rock bottom" when his life changed forever.

"God had been on my mind and heart for some time, but the defining moment was when I woke up one day with such a feeling of despair that I just hung my head and cried," he recalls. "The music that had first drawn me to BCC held such a message of hope, and the acceptance of 'coming as you are' let me know that there was a way back, although long."

Tony says he was largely "unchurched" when he began attending BCC in late 1992, after guests at his restaurant described the church as "fun" - a new concept for him. Fourteen years later, Tony, Tammy, his wife of nearly 17 years, and their three children Riley, 13, Anna Kate, 8, and Megan, 4, are fixtures at BCC. Tony and Tammy teach various age groups in Kids Place and participate in the Marriage Mentoring ministry, and Tony has been a part of Men's Fraternity and Conexus Softball teams.

Outside of BCC, Tony is a field human resource manager for Cracker Barrel restaurants, and serves on two youth activities boards for the Pegram Community.

"'For I know the plans I have for you,' declares the LORD, 'plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.'" (Jer. 29:11)

When Billy Williams first started attending BCC in 1991, there were about 50 people in the congregation. He has seen the church through most of its ups and downs and as a longtime member, is committed to honoring the mission and vision of BCC.

You may see him sitting behind the drums in weekend services; Billy also serves on the stage set-up team and with wife Brenda, mentors engaged and just-married couples through BCC's Marriage Mentoring ministry. He has also served on Habitat for Humanity projects, and has led some Conexus groups. Married for 22 years, Billy and Brenda have a son, Aaron, 19, who is away at college.

He met Christ at the age of 16 while playing in the worship band at a church in Amarillo, TX. "That's the reason I even went to church - because someone invited me to play drums," Billy says. His passion for God and music later led to a move to Nashville, a 10-year career in Christian rock music and two hit albums.

These days, Billy is focusing his creative energy in a different direction as owner of B. Williams Design and co-owner of Artisan Custom Cabinetry; he is also pursuing a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Watkins College of Art & Design.

"Delight yourself in the LORD and he will give you the desires of your heart." - Psa. 37:4
