Booty. God. Booty. // Week 3 // Jesus Jukes (A series by Lifechurch.tv)

The Point: You are famous because of Who you know, not who knows you.

We are famous, not because we deserve it or have done anything to earn it, but because we are known by the Most Famous One. The One who knows the number of stars in the universe, knows the number of hairs on your head.

Most of us love the spotlight and the attention of others. We prove it by how carefully we select just the right profile pic or skillfully edit our “about me” section to make us look smart, witty, or interesting. What we need to realize is that we already have the full attention of God.

He is your biggest fan. The Bible says that we can go before the Creator of the Universe boldly, anytime we want and talk to him about anything at all. Wow!

Join us next week for the final video from the Booty. God. Booty. series!

Winter Jam 2012

We will be attending Winter Jam in Nashville on March 11th. God. Booty. Week 2

On Sunday we learned that you can’t fix yourself with yourself.

How many of you can relate to this pattern? You mess up, ask for forgiveness, vow never to repeat that sin, mess up, ask for forgiveness, vow never to repeat that sin, etc.

The reason it doesn’t work is because we are trying to fix ourselves with ourselves. Our will power or dedication is not enough to overcome our sin. The more we try, the more we fail and we are left feeling defeated and frustrated.

Here’s the message: STOP TRYING. You don’t need more resolve, you need a total surrender. Put your hands up, raise the white flag, and give yourself up. What you need to realize is that you are not the solution. You are trying to solve a problem that has already been taken care of. If you know Jesus, sin has been overcome for you. Jesus has defeated sin in your life. You are free. Live in that freedom.

Often God puts us in situations that are anything but comfortable and may even seem like punishment for some secret sin. What we need to realize is that these times of being stuck on the desert road are not punishment. They are perfect placement by a loving God who is trying to mold us to be the people He wants us to be. If you are on the desert road, you are not alone. God has not abandoned you or forgotten about you. He has you right where He wants you.

We all experience an inconsistency between fully trusting God and our identity. God says we’re His beloved child, but we see ourselves as shameful runaways. He says we are already famous, yet we live in insecurity. God lovingly cleans up our brokenness, but we try to fix ourselves. God intentionally places us in uncomfortable circumstances, while we continually seek comfort. During this series we’ll take steps toward trusting God enough to let our beliefs line up with His. * A series by Stuff Christians Like author Jon Acuff

The lock-in will be held on HopePark's campus. We will meet in the Onion at 7 p.m. on Friday night. Students will register upon entry to the building. Once a student is signed in they will not be allowed to leave campus without parental permission. The lock-in is for all students grades 5-12. There will be snack food provided throughout the night, but students should eat dinner before arrival. A light breakfast will be served before departure. Students should be picked up in the Onion on Saturday morning at 7. Anyone planning on sleeping should bring their own pillow/sleeping bag.

The lock-in is a great chance of fellowship for our youth! We are going to be playing games, building friendships, and staying up way too late! We have courageous volunteers that will be there all night ensuring the safety of every student. This night is something our students are really looking forward to! I am excited to see it happening. Every youth is encouraged to Bring a friend! :)
